The United States was unjustified in dropping the atomic bombs on Japan because it not only caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent lives, but it also opened the door to destructive nuclear warfare in the future.

On July 26th, 1945, President Harry S. Truman issued an order to drop the deadly atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. With the intention to stop the advance of the Japanese and force their surrender, the bomb "Little Boy" was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6th. Afterfter not hearing from Japan for three days, the U.S. dropped the sencond atomic bomb- "Fat Man"- on the city of Nagasaki on August 9th. The results of the bombs were devastating to Japan. Both cities were about oblitterated. Over fifty thousand people were killed on impact of the bombs and several hundreds more died due to the effects of the fatal radiation emitted. Radiation still lingers in Japan today and its effects are still being observed in survivors of the incident, sixty seven years later. The atomic bomb was the start and the epitome of nuclear warfare, speeding up the technological anvancement of weapons and other devices of war for future battles.
